frederking ist strahler - lkw 12" on placid records. this might slip under the radar of most of the people interested in this kinda sound, but it shouldn´t. floaty, dreamy, introspective + melancholic electronic sounds. imagine kraftwerk if they were actually good crossed with rheingold. |

rasputin is a project by philipp münch who is also part, if not most, of the rorschach garden. where trg is minimal synth-elektro, rasputin, while still minimal, is more on the noise + elektro side of the musical spectrum. there was a 3" cd-r available on phil´s very own sub.ver.siv label and now there is a "real" cd on invasion wreck, complete with color artwork, bonus tracks + remixes. following is a review i did of the cd-r release. unfortunately this is untranslateable, so this is german only, sorry... (that is not the actual cover on the left by the way) <german mode> man stelle sich einmal vor: in einem anonymen wohnkomplex einer mittleren deutschen stadt wohnt inmitten ausgestopfter tierköpfe und mit zeitungsausschnitten gefüllter bananenkisten ein sehr ärgerlicher frühpensionierter beamter. er verfolgt mit großem Interesse den lokalsport, mag keine kleinen kinder und hat eine abgebrochene anti-agressionstherapie hinter sich. Und macht musik. was dabei heraus kommt ist wütende minimalelektronik mit skurrilen aber wahren texten. oft sparsamst instrumentiert und vordergründiger eingängigkeit durchweg abgeneigt. ab und an schaut mal eine kleine melodie vorbei, nickt wissend mit dem köpfchen um dann gleich wieder einem monoton knarrenden bass und im hintergrund rauschenden gurgeln und seufzen platz zu machen. </german mode> |

i admit, i purposely lost track of 1st decade records and their release schedule once they started retrofitting their nice synthelectro tracks with guitars. yeah, ok, so i took it personally, but in my opinion "i can not fall" is still one of the best synth-pop tracks ever made and you JUST DON´T DO THAT... but the upcoming junghanß 12" is such a spectacular display of electro-pop skills that i´m all but reconciled. |

well. insanity took over my life this last two weeks and kept me from doing anything, label and life wise. strangely, not having to work 17+ hours a day erased any trace of eloquence + creativity left in my suffering mind. so, yeah, let´s start nice ´n´slow again and see if i still have, what they call "it". |
